Playing with Fire

‘Let’s disagree to agree because quotes are my thing.’ - Rodrigo I miss John Cena. I miss watching him in the ring or cutting promo and I don’t even watch the WWE religiously anymore. I’ll read one headline every once in a while, that makes we question that company that I used to love dearly, but I still want to see John in the ring. Right now, as many before him, Cena is trying to be a superstar on the silver screen.   His latest role is smoke jumper Superintendent Jake “Supe” Carson in Nickelodeon’s Playing with Fire. When putting out a cabin fire Carson rescues three siblings. But when a flood arrives and their parents can’t come pick them up, Jake and his fire team must navigate having three rowdy children in their depot. The trailer showcased Carson’s action hero team of smoke jumpers and although it didn't strike me as nothing new, it still seemed entertaining, and at times it was. Keegan – Michael Key from Key & Peele fame was the main proponent of comed...

Final Score (2018)

'I'd rather dad was a coward and still be here than a hero and dead.' – Danni Before I started watching Final Score, I expected a typical action film and that’s exactly I got. In Final Score former American soldier Mike Knox travels to London to take his niece to a West Ham game but ends up being caught up in the reemergence of a Russian revolution. This film is a part of Sky’s plan to create original films that their customers can watch on demand and at the cinema at the same time. For the most part Dave Bautista gives a typical portrayal of a macho military man but there are moments that an emotional side is shown such as when Knox becomes visibly upset at his downfalls as an uncle to his former comrades daughter in his quest to protect the stadium.  Sl...

The Rock is the Worst Actor from the WWE

Image
Despite the joint second highest paid actor of 2019 being Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, the question remains if WWE superstars can successfully change paths and become great actors. I originally was going to discuss the idea that Dwayne Johnson’s acting career has been inferior to that of his former WWE colleague Dave Bautista’s , who is appearing in more films as of late, as I have found some of Bautista’s performances in films such as Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) to be much more enjoyable than The Rock’s blockbuster films like Central Intelligence (2016) . However; although Bautista has vocalised his desire to be an actor as opposed to just a movie star, both men are stuck in the roles of the muscular and powerful characters that they were in the WWE. Dave Bautista in his role as Drax, from the  Marvel Universe Johnson and Bautista have upcoming summer releases, Hobbs & Shaw and My Spy respectively, which see them taking on roles of “badass” governmen...
